The road to success with both women and your career may be counter-intiutive. The very first step of success is to increase the rate of failure.
For example getting fired (or dumped), despite sometimes coming as a surprise, leaving you scrambling to recover, is often a godsend: Someone makes the decision for you and makes impossible for you to sit in the wrong job for the rest of your life.
Most people aren't lucky enough to get fired and die a slow spiritual death over 30-40 years of tolerating being mediocre.
